Our 'Vibe of the North' is our most EPIC summer tour and sees us travel around New Zealand's stunning North Island, soaking up everything it has to offer! Breathtaking scenery, white sandy beaches, local hidden gems - you'll see it all on your incredible Kiwi Vibes tour!

Day 1 : Auckland / Cathedral Cove / Whitianga
Welcome on board! A nice early start sees us leave the ‘big smoke’ of Auckland and head to the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. Here, you’ll see why this region is a favourite for Kiwis on their summer holidays and why it’s constantly regarded as one of the most stunning parts of the world. After a quick goldmine tour in historic Thames, we’ll visit the famous Cathedral Cove beach (as seen in multiple Hollywood feature films), before grabbing a shovel and digging a hole at unreal Hot Water Beach. After an epic day of sun, sand and surf, it’s time to head to our accommodation in Whitianga, where we’ll have some kai (food) - a classic Kiwi BBQ. From there, the night is yours! Day 2 : Whangamata / Tauranga
With a coach-load of new friends, it’s time to head south. From Whitianga, we’ll head to famous Mount Maunganui. On the way, we’ll stop in the popular beach/surfing town of Whangamata to stretch the legs and explore this idyllic beachside town. At Mount Maunganui, we show you freedom. The afternoon and evening is completely free for you to enjoy as you wish and, while it’s your choice, we’ll also recommend some awesome activities to help you have an unforgettable night of one of New Zealand's most popular summer destinations. Day 3 : Rotorua
More than likely hungover, it’s time to pack up the coach and head to New Zealand’s tourism Mecca - Rotorua. Today is your chance to immerse yourself in traditional Maori culture with an optional tour of Whakarewarewa Maori Village. For those of you not wanting to fork out for that, the rest of us will head to Rotorua’s impressive Redwoods Forest, where you’ll have the option to do a canopy tour (paid) or stroll through the towering woods with your feet on the ground (free). Included: Breakfast, Guided Tour of the volcanic City of Rotorua Not Included: Lunch, dinner Optional paid activities: Whakarewarewa Maori Village ($70 approx.), Redwoods canopy walk ($25 approx.)

Day 4 : Rotorua
With far more to do than you can fit in just one day, we’re staying an extra night in Rotorua tonight and you know what? We’ve decided to give you the entire day free! With plenty of optional paid activities on offer all around the city, there’ll be plenty to keep you and your new mates busy. Whether you're an adrenaline junkie and want to tackle the world's highest commercially rafted waterfall, or getting lost in the magical world of Hobbiton sounds more like you, we’ll be sure to offer you all the best experiences based on what you’re looking for. Day 5 : Taupo
OK, after two nights in Rotorua we’re off! This time to stunning Lake Taupo, but not before stopping in at the breathtaking Huka Falls. Here, 200,000 litres per second of crystal clear water flows from the great lake into the start of New Zealand’s longest river - the Waikato River. Once in Taupo, optional paid activities like bungy jumping, skydiving or jet boat riding are on offer, or simply ask your tour guide who'll point you towards some of Taupo's lesser known gems or the many free activities available. That night, our awesome accomodation puts on a spread and drinks for us! After that, well... Time to see what the Taupo nightlife has to offer. Day 6 : Wellington
Feeling dusty after last night? Don’t worry, we’re going to get a few miles under our belt today. Heading south from Taupo, we’ll stop in at the home of New Zealand’s army base to stretch our legs and have some lunch. From there, we trek on to the nation’s capital - Wellington! Once in ‘Welly’, we’ll grab some dinner and hit the streets of this incredible city on a local pub crawl. Doesn’t sound like your cup of tea? No problemo! The night is yours to explore what is often referred to as NZ’s coolest city. Included: Breakfast, NZ Army Museum, Lunch Not included: Dinner

Day 7 : Wellington
After breakfast, the day is yours! Get lost in Wellington. Visit a local cafe, take photos of the local street art, head along to New Zealand’s famous national museum - Te Papa (it’s FREE!), hell - spend the whole day hitting the bars if you want! As long as you’re on the bus tomorrow morning, today is completely up to you. Included: Breakfast Not Included: Lunch, dinner

Day 8 : New Plymouth
After a couple of ‘sweet as’ days in Wellington, it’s time to start the trek back up north. After a few hours on the coach, we’ll arrive into New Zealand's best kept secret, the beautiful Taranaki region, where the first thing you'll notice is the picturesque Mt Egmont looming over the countryside. Here we will make base in the small city of New Plymouth. This afternoon we’ll all take a trip to the local Pukekura Park to stretch the legs, before heading into New Plymouth’s town centre to explore the great food, contemporary culture, cafes and more. After meeting back at our accommodation that evening, it’s time to head out as a group and take advantage of this small New Zealand city's nightlife. Day 9 : Waitomo Caves / Raglan
Saying goodbye to the stunning Taranaki, we continue our adventure north to the world famous Glowworm Caves of Waitomo. Here you can take a tour into the awe-inspiring subterranean world which you just have to see to believe, with thousands of glow-worms lighting your way. If money's on your mind, don't worry; take advantage of the free Ruakuri walk, taking you through stunning native bush, limestone outcrops and natural caves. You won't be disappointed! From there it’s up to the popular surf town of Raglan, but not before making a quick stop in at the stunning Bridal Veil Falls. Onboard the 'Wahinemoe', we'll take a an epic 'Fish and Chips' cruise in Raglan harbour, as we have a few drinks and watch the breathtaking West Coast sun go down. Following that, it's time for you to experience a famous Raglan 'Sunday Sesh'! Included: Breakfast, Ruakuri Walk access, Bridal Veil Falls Optional paid activities: Ruakuri Cave Tour ($74 approx.), Wahinemoe Cruise ($49 approx.)

Day 10 : Raglan / Auckland
Just because today is the last day of the tour, it doesn’t mean we’re slowing down. Raglan is home to some of New Zealand's best surf breaks, and those of you keen to 'give it a crack' will get the chance to, thanks to the awesome surf school at our accomodation. After lunch, we’ll head north to Auckland where we say our farewells… #sadface. Until next time, that is! Those 'Vibrators' that would prefer to stay a few extra days in gorgeous Raglan instead, can do so! Included: Breakfast Not Included: Lunch Optional paid activities: Surf School ($79 approx.)

Tours depart from Base Backpackers, Auckland on your departure day and finish at this location as well.

While all accomodation, transport and breakfasts are included in the ticket prices, travellers are advised to bring between NZ $50-$100 per day for spending money. While this may simply be needed for the occasional meal on some days, further optional paid activities like bungy jumping, skydiving, Hobbiton, etc. will be available throughout all tours.
